Juniper Hill Ranch Fall Afterschool Programs
UPDATE: We are knee-depp in rearranging our barn this fall, so we will not be offering fall programming. We look forward to seeing you in summer 2025!
We are excited to offer two new programs at Juniper Hill Ranch: one for middle school-aged girls and one for girls in grades 3-5. Join us for an unforgettably fun fall. Read on to learn more and to register.
Animals and Art
Grades 3 through 5
Limit: 8 girls
Time: 4 p.m.- 5:15 p.m
Join Juniper Hill Ranch this fall for a six-week afterschool program that combines making arts and crafts with spending time with the ranch’s animals. Our programming and activities are specifically designed to build confidence and compassionate leadership in girls.
Every day, we’ll meet in the white barn and have a snack. Then, we’ll head out to visit with the mini-donkeys, Ali and Zoe, the sheep and chickens and ducks, Lucky and Ducky. We’ll learn how to groom the donkeys and sheep, how to hold the chickens and collect eggs. We’ll also learn how to keep the stalls clean, working together to muck a stall. Afterwards, we’ll wash our hands and then head to the white barn to do fun arts and crafts. You’ll get to use your creativity to do felting projects, create colorful bracelets and more.
Ranch Life and Service-Learning Internship
Grades 6 through 8
Limit: 8 girls
Time: 4 p.m.- 5:15 p.m.
Join Juniper Hill Ranch’s specially curated teen ranch internship. This fun six-week afterschool program enables middle school-aged girls the opportunity to make friendships, immerse themselves in ranch animal life and give back to those in need in the Boulder community. Our activities and programming are specifically designed to build confidence and compassionate leadership in girls at an age when studies show confidence among girls plummets.
Each day will be a mix of spending time with Juniper Hill’s animals and creating natural products that will be donated to organizations like the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, Emergency Family Assistance Association and the Wednesday homeless breakfasts in downtown Boulder.
We’ll start our afternoons with a snack in the white barn, and then we’ll head out to spend time with the friendly ranch animals like mini-donkeys, sheep, chickens and ducks. You’’ll learn how to take care of them, feeding them, giving them water, collecting eggs, brushing them and cleaning their stalls.
Afterwards, we’ll head into the white barn where you’ll learn how to make products like all-natural soaps and chapsticks. As we’re crafting them together, you’ll learn why their ingredients like beeswax are part of a critical pollinator ecoscape. When you’re finished with your products, we’ll donate them to the unhoused or those living in poverty in Boulder County. During the six weeks, we’ll have a guest speaker from one of our partner organizations visit and share what they do and how our work on the ranch is helping other people.
